Your piano is your partner. There is a certain connection between a pianist and the piano that enables them to create good music together. It is necessary that you take care of it and make it clean.  

To take care of your piano doesn’t mean that you just have to keep it tuned every 2 – 5 years. A daily maintenance by the owner is also needed. It may gather thick dust and rust if you leave it untouched and unclean for a long time.

If you have kids at home, it can’t be avoided if they sometimes touch the keyboards with dirty hands. You can wipe a lemon paste to it and rinse with a clean and moderately wet fabric and wipe dry after if you want to keep the keyboard shiny and free from dirt.  

It is best to clean the keyboard with a mild soap especially if it is of Ivory Brand.  

Pianos that are in a high gloss coating must be delicately taken care of. To clean the cabinet use a soft fabric. Using rough ones can leave marks to it. Make sure that the towel you are using is clean because dirty marks can’t sometimes be removed. Moisten the small part of the towel and wipe it using the dry portion right away to be at ease in cleaning. Do it until the whole cabinet is cleaned.  

It is a good idea to use piano polish in polishing the cabinet. An alternative that is used in other furnitures is the paste wax. A piano that is old and in a woody texture can be cleansed by using a polish spray or cleaner. Do not use a usual aerosol that contains alcohol for it will tarnish the paint on your piano. Several piano shops offer lots of good quality-piano polish and polishing cloth.  

Do not place your piano along a concrete floor or block for they can cause fluctuating temperature that will make your piano out of tune in a short period of time. Put it along the wall instead.
